Therapy
Therapy can provide a unique setting that seeks to examine and explore elements of life that often get put aside because they are overwhelming or distressing. Through looking at these painful feelings, thoughts or behaviours, conscious and unconscious processes, desires and beliefs, alongside your personal and cultural histories, we can begin to understand your situation better.
Though challenging, my hope is that therapy can begin to uncover novel choices, connect us to spontaneity and new ways of being. Where previously there was restriction, subsequently there can be possibility.
I believe crucially that therapy is a collaborative process. Everyone may come to therapy for different reasons but the underlying constant with each, is a good working relationship between client and therapist. I aim to make this our foundation.
Both long and short term work is available and will vary from client to client. For some, therapy can quickly shift the client into a more confident place, whereas for others issues may be rooted deeper, so long term work may be more appropriate.
In either case regularity and commitment is an important factor as it provides structure and continuity, which has been shown to aid the therapeutic process.
“There is no Pandora’s box to be opened; just the pure movement of life.”
